CM10.1 Nightlies on Fascinate: Thread Not So Fast

It's good to escape some mistakes described below. As an alternative, and when there's no "stock" SD card available, I'd be wiping data/system on top of regular wiping caches.

My previous attempt for CM 10.1 Nightly after what I had initially (20130303) didn't end up well: no WiFi, lost apps, etc. That's the price of "dirty" flash from "non-native" SD card. It was formatted in Fassy just fine, but somehow it didn't matter.

This time I used Samsung 16 GB SD card my Fassy came with, and this time flashing was a success. Of course, wiping caches before/after flashing 20130309 is a must. Couple of apps required reinstalling, but that's it. Groove IP Lite works fine, my choicest selection of video streamers just works as before. Opera Mini flies, Chrome is still dragging like in molasses.

It might be a placebo effect, but the phone feels a tidbit more agile. While CM10.1 changelog for Fascinate doesn't show anything Fassy-specific happened between March 3 and March 9, the general improvement and better stability is obviously here. However, there's still no Milestone CM10.1 edition for Fascinate just yet.

Thanks to all CyanogenMod developers who made it possible for this 3-year old Samsung Galaxy S from Verizon. Next step would be looking for some delicate way to turn off that Verizon cell radio that eats my battery. Grafting some HD video decoding/rendering code from more capable phones is also very welcome.
