Hyundai T7s And Other New Tablets

While Hyundai T7s may look very enticing in terms of both value per dollar invested and performance per same dollar, there will be more interesting offerings soon.

Couple of them are mentioned by Liliputing (Bean and Ramos X1). They are in different caliber than Hyundai T7s ("retina" 2048x1536, 9.7 inches) and better be compared with something like Onda 972. However, I feel more compelled to position Hyundai T7s more precisely now around these devices. Even if the pricing is not revealed, there's no chance they could cost less than ~$250.

These slates are based on practically the same Samsung Exynos 5520 dual core chip that powers Google Nexus 10 and Samsung ARM Chromebook. AnTuTu marks for it are well known and generally present nothing to boast about as being roughly the same as shown by Exynos 4412 of Hyundai T7s. Claims are made and benchmarks show that 5520 excels in multitasking.

There's a little problem here though: a level of multitasking support demonstrated by Jelly Bean in real life is quite negligible to discuss seriously. Will multitasking support be improved in Key Lime Pie remains to be seen. My take on the issue is that an ordinary user won't see any difference between "multitasking" and "non-multitasking" slates, so it's a non-issue as per yet.

Issue might be mostly due to the difference in GPUs: ARM Mali-400 MP4 quad core (15.84 GFLOPS) vs. ARM Mali-T604 quad core (72.488 GFLOPS). Then, even if the prices for these 5520 slates are unknown at the moment, there's virtually no chance they will be cheaper than ~$260 they ask for similar Chinese "retinas" based on A31 or RK 3188 chips.

If anything, a fairer comparison of Hyundai T7s could be made with this rumored device:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8
OS: Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Processor: 1,5 GHz dual-core
GPU: ?
RAM: 2 GB
3G / HSPA + of 4G / LTE
Display: 8 inch, 1280 × 800 pixels
Camera: 3 megapixel
Front camera: 1.3 Megapixel
Storage: ?
Micro SD
Wi-Fi, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro USB
Battery: 4500 mAh
Dimension: 112,1 × 209,6 × 6,95 mm.
Weight: 330 g.

But again, Tab 3 8 better be priced at below $199, for the comparison to T7s to be really fair. Note that above are specs for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, not the $430 Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

There might be more contenders in 7 or 8 inch department, so stay tuned.
